Welcome
The Wellington Java User Group serves as a focal point for those in Wellington, New Zealand, who are interested in the Java programming language.
We aim to meet on the third Wednesday of every month to discuss Java related topics. The user group is run on a purely voluntary basis. There are no fees, and all are welcome.
We are always on the lookout for people to present topics at our meetings.

Future Events:
June 18th 5:00 for 5:15 - 6:30pm 2008 — Subject: Spring MVC - Not just a simple MVC framework
The Spring Framework has been around for several years now, revolutionizing enterprise development in Java, helping make testing easier, reduce complexity in applications, and increase performance and productivity.
And the number of sub-projects is astounding, including Spring Security, Web Flow, Web Services, Batch, LDAP and the good ol trusty MVC stack.
Spring MVC has been around since 2004 with great fanfare along with way. But only since late 2007 has the new annotation based MVC configuration been around.
Some of the topics which will be covered in the presentation:
- Handler Adapters - The Brains Behind It All
- Spring MVC 2.5 - Annotations and All
- Is it time to give away Spring MVC 2.0 ?
- Service Exporters - Spring MVC's Under-Appreciated Middle Child
- 2.5 and 2.0 Comparisons - Code and Workflow (and some Mix and Match)
This presentation does not try to answer the age old question 'which framework is better', instead it will explain the ins and outs of Spring MVC 2.5, including some of its more advanced features.
